A) HPV is Human Papilloma Virus. It is a virus.

Q) What are the cancers caused by HPV?

A) Cervical, Vaginal, Vulva, Penile, Oropharynx, Anus.

Q) What risk HPV genotypes?

A) HPV 16, 18, 31, 33, 45

Q) What are the most common genotypes causing cervical cancer?

A) HPV 16, 18 - cause about 70% of Cervical cancer.

Q) What are the most common genotypes causing benign genital warts?

A) HPV 6, 11 - cause about 90% of benign genital warts.

Q) HPV vaccines with containing genotypes-

  1. Cervarix- HPV 16, 18 (Bivalent) - prevents around 70% of cervical cancer.
  2. Gardasil- HPV 16, 18, 6, 11 (Quadrivalent) - prevents around 70% of cervical cancer.
  3. Cervavac- HPV 16, 18, 6, 11 (Quadrivalent) - prevents around 70% of cervical cancer.
  4. Gardasil9- HPV 16, 18, 6, 11, 31, 33, 45, 52, 58 (Nanovalent) - prevents around 98% of cervical cancer.

Q) What are the doses for HPV vaccine?

A) For age 9-14year 2 doses of vaccine at 6 months interval are given. For age >14year 3 doses of vaccine at 0,1,6 or 0,2,6 month are given.
